BELOIT – A lively Thirsty Thursday crowd of 1,120 saw the Beloit Sky Carp snap their first three-game losing streak of the season with a 5-3 win at ABC Supply Stadium.
After Gabe Bierman surrendered an unearned run in the top of the first inning, the Sky Carp exploded for four runs in the bottom half.
Yiddi Cappe doubled home a run, Davis Bradshaw continued his season-long tear with a two-run single, and Joe Mack followed suit with an RBI single of his own to make it 4-1.
Brady Allen added his third homer of the season, a solo shot that made it 5-1 in the fourth inning. The Cubs scratched across a pair of runs in the fifth inning, but Bierman and the bullpen were solid the rest of the way.
Bierman went 6 2-3 frames and allowed just two earned runs. He didn’t walk a batter and struck out five. Caleb Wurster came on and struck out three of the four he faced, retiring them all. Matt Pushard pitched the ninth for his fifth save of the season.
The Sky Carp and the Cubs will battle in game four of their six-game series Friday at 6:35 p.m.
