BlueClaws Roll to Double-Header Sweep of Brooklyn on Wednesday

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws swept a double-header from Brooklyn on Wednesday, winning 9-3 and 5-0 to pull within two games of first place Hudson Valley.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - The BlueClaws swept a double-header from Brooklyn on Wednesday, winning 9-3 and 5-0 to pull within two games of first place Hudson Valley.

Game One

The BlueClaws exploded for six runs in the bottom of the third inning. Arturo De Freits singled in the first run. Marcus Lee Sang added an RBI double to make it 2-0 before the inning's big hits. Rixon Wingrove smashed a 2-run single for a 4-0 lead. Casey Martin followed two batters later with his fifth home run of the season to give the BlueClaws a 6-0 lead.

Martin matched his home run total from last year with his third inning blast.

Jersey Shore added two more in the fourth, on RBI singles from Nick Ward and Marcus Lee Sang.

Starter Jon Duplantier gave up three runs on two home runs - a two-run first inning blast by William Lugo and a solo homer in the fourth by Mateo Gil - while striking out four and walking one as part of his rehab assignment with the BlueClaws.

_Game Two _

The BlueClaws took the lead in the bottom of the third on an RBI single from Andrick Nava. He brought in Marcus Lee Sang, who led off the inning with a ground-rule double to right-center field.

Jersey Shore added two more in the bottom of the fourth inning. Nick Ward scored from third on a wild pitch and Rixon Wingrove doubled home Wilfredo Flores with two outs for a 3-0 lead. Wingrove added a home run, his team-leading ninth of the year, to make it 5-0 in the bottom of the sixth.

Orion Kerkering got the last five outs for his third save, striking out four hitters. Tristan Garnett (1-2) threw two scoreless innings to earn the win.

BlueClaws starter Rodolfo Sanchez threw two scoreless innings, and has now thrown 17.2 consecutive scoreless innings.

The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 7:05 pm. LHP Matt Osterberg starts for Jersey Shore.
